Dave Thomas began his career in advertising by composing and producing music for radio and TV commercials. He expanded into creating and writing, and in 1982, founded his own agency, Thomas Phillips Clawson. In 1989, Dave sold his agency to EvansGroup and served as president and CEO of their Salt Lake, Los Angeles and Denver operations. When Publicis purchased EvansGroup in 1998, Dave became president of the Salt Lake office. In 2003, he founded ThomasArts with his sons.

Dave's most acclaimed campaigns include the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, First Security Bank, Wells Fargo, Zions Bank, UnitedHealthcare, FHP Health Care, Utah Travel Council, Utah Sports Commision, Morris Travel, KUTV Channel 2, Gus Paulos Chevrolet, Davis Convention and Visitors Bureau, and dozens of other local and national brands.
